in modern CFB, you need at least one of 4 things...........an ace recruiting staff, a blue blood history, be willing to cheat, or a location that will make up for the lack of the first 3 things. VT has none of these. The transfer portal is just accelerating the decline - this would have happened eventually regardless. Teams that are able to take advantage of the portal are those schools that can check at least one of those 4 boxes - and unfortunately not having any of them makes the portal another net-negative for us
